Do you plan to allow the community to allocate some fund for custom development using Boscoin like dApp before the congress is available?

This question is, can we develop a BOScoin dApp before Congress is available, per say on TokenNet environment, and also if funds will be available. The answer is Yes. For example, we are contacting many third parties for the enhancement of BOScoin ecosystem, such as homomorphic encryption for enhanced personal privacy as well as data privacy. If you have any good suggestions, please by all means let us know if you feel it can enhance the ecosystem and the community. Any idea, no matter how simple such as filming a video, is welcomed and the foundation can support and fund your ideas if deemed necessary, and we may give out some bounty as well. Suggestion of a project of quite some magnitude that goes beyond bounty is also welcomed. The only limit would be your imagination.

We heard about a yellow paper being written soon . What are the main ideas the team want to put him?

With regard to a yellow paper, although we see it more like an update to the white paper, we are planning to address and add what we felt a little weak. The reason why we are doing this is because, it has been a year since writing the white paper and many things have changed internally, in the market, and in the community for the better so we though it would be better to incorporate the ideas we left out in the beginning because we were not sure if we could materialize that. A good example would be Public Financing, with regard to ideas on how to scale BOS ecosystem utilizing the Commons Budget. Another aspect that will be added is how to manage a blockchain not in units of accounts but individuals, based on personal identity. Homomorphic encryption based KYC technology is offering a realistic solution we can incorporate into our blockchain and we have already begun working on it. What will be added on the updated white paper is how to incorporate is into our blockchain and how to protect personal privacy while still being able to identify individuals. We also explain what possibilities this will bring and talk about potential apps. We hope fundraiser participants will be able to spot new business and development opportunities and ideas with this update. We are thinking March for the release of the final version and you can count it will be good.

In my opinion, purse security is the most important problem. The system is too fragile right now. You will be hacked after you register the exchange. How can I keep my keys safe? I lost a lot of money hacking in myetherwallet. So it’s scary. Is there anything you can do?

This question addresses weaknesses in security and what we are going to do about it. Let me be blunt and give you my overall opinion first. A perfectly safe blockchain is fantasy. Whatever blockchain, say Bitcoin or Ethereum saying trust us, we are safe, is too idealistic. How we are approaching this is, we are running mathematical models for the consensus protocol and chose mFBA because FBA is one of the very few consensus algorithms that has a mathematical base. Stability and security at the consensus level is maintained through a mathematical base of set theories, so within the theoretical framework at least, stability and security of the consensus protocol is guaranteed. However, security needs to be achieved from various levels, including at the code level, so in that regard we need professional expertise to implement comprehensive security measures. In order to do this, we are working closely together with Korean universities. Math modeling is done by our own research institute which is still in process of being established under the wings of KAIST. Regarding security models, I cannot disclose anything for certain now because the contract is not finalized yet, although I expect to close the deal by end of January, one of the most famous cyber security team in Korea will be consulting us with the objective of providing a stable and secure environment ranging from top to bottom, consensus algorithm, code, wallet, everything related to our blockchain and ecosystem. We aim to provide an excellent quality of security by doing such activities. Let me stress once more, there is no perfectly safe blockchain, and I think the day may never come for a person to be entirely depend on blockchain security.

Hi, are you going to get ledger nano s integrated in your web wallet? i think is a good point for people scared about store secret seeds, stellar arready integrated so i think will be a great boscoin update.

I am not too familiar with hardware wallets or ledge nano s but I think the question is asking whether or not we will support hardware wallets since Stellar already supports it. Of course we think hardware wallets are good because of scalability and giving more choice to the community. However, we are not currently in contact with any hardware wallet vendors, but if you know or have any ties with any hardware wallet providers please let us know. We will actively support any such effort from the community.

Documentation on OWL + TAL development to help developers to build DApps based on the Blockchain OS in order to start make good use of BOScoin. This would be good to have together with samples/snippets of code.

This question addresses OWL and TAL and how to build dApps and develop Trust Contracts. OWL and TAL are technologies that comprise Trust Contracts but unfortunately Trust Contracts are not supported on TokenNet and will be revealed after BOSnet is operational later on. Realistically speaking, I am hoping Q3 of 2018 to have it made public with sample codes and be able for community users to write Trust Contracts, but that comes after internal and external SDK testing. Until then using TokenNet API is possible.

Question:is there a desktop wallet being considered to put in the dev timeline?

This question is related to wallets and is there a timeline for a desktop wallet. There are many ways to go about wallets and what we are providing right now is a web wallet and after that, we will extend the web wallet and cover a browser based container to make desktop wallets possible. I realize Stellar supports desktop wallets and this part will be addressed together with the overall roadmap of BOSnet. Desktop wallets are definitely in consideration.

How is the relationship of BOScoin with S.Korean universities?
Does BOScoin cooperate with S.Korean universities?
Is BOScoin subject to academic papers and works, graduate programs or doctorates?

The question is asking how our relationship is with Korean universities and other possible collaboration system and last year we had significant improvement. We have colloborated with universities, companies with core strengths and a research center of our own and soon we will be able to share in detail of the results. Regarding the research center, we are collaborating with a university to set up a research center within the university’s premises and the foundation will support an annual budget of approximately 2 million USD every year. Its main mission is to research and develop technologies that are included in our white paper so that we can have a stable and solid platform in the long run. The name of the university is KAIST, or Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and we hope to deliver some good news in the near future. Another approach is to cooperate with companies with core strengths and as already mentioned in a different question, we think being able to identify an individual to be a huge market. There are privacy issues, but protecting privacy while being able to identify an individual is important and we are communicating with Seoul National University’s Industrial Math Center, or rather a company related to SNU IMC that has core technologies regarding KYC. If individual identification is possible in a public blockchain, then more business opportunities shall arise, as well as more usage of blockchain itself. We will continue forming relationships with various teams from universities and also collaborate or even invest in strategic partners. Like what we have been doing last year, we will continue this year, searching for real partners so that we can work together.

BOS-coin made a business relationship with Cosmos on last May.
I got BOS and Cosmos’s staking token,Atoms on last May.
BOS-coin will be on Cosmoshub? Like ETH?

This question is about our relationship with Cosmos and whether or not we will be on Cosmos hub like Ethereum. As you may know, we have a long and deep relationship with founders of Cosmos, Jae Kwon and Ash Han, and we fully sympathize with their vision. We will definitely look for opportunities to jointly do projects together, but only when we know for sure that we are not conflicting the interests of our contributors. If we are expanding our network through the Cosmos hub then obviously that is a good thing but we’d have to review what side effects it may cause. For example, if a certain feature of BOScoin were to be in direct competition with Cosmos then that might harm BOScoin’s value by joining. It is an important decision to make and we hope the community can discuss also, and we will cooperate with other crypto projects as well.

Will the mainnet maintain backward compatibility to Stellar? e.g. builtin exchange, anchor or path payment. These are the core feature of Stellar network but never mentioned in your white paper.

I think the question is asking if BOSnet will maintain backward compatibility to TokenNet, or Stellar Consensus Protocol and keep compatibility at a transaction level. We are using Stellar Consensus Protocol or SCP which is the realization of the theoretical consensus algorithm of FBA. So compatibility with FBA is definitely there but we are slightly different to Stellar in that SCP targets businesses such as bank transactions to run on the Stellar network. Although we are using the same consensus protocol for now, we are not looking to do the same thing in terms of business. Obviously currently at TokenNet, remittance and major parts of the API are compatible. Remittance system and address generation system will be kept but other features we are not considering.

Are developers considering implementing a live tracker of task being worked on and completion stats…EMC2 has a nice interface I think as a suggestion for what I mean.

I am not entirely sure if I understand this question correctly but I think it is suggesting to implement a live tracker and also features that will be able to provide feedback for a certain task. So basically the questions is asking about building a platform and this is also related third party interface. One of the previous questions addressed Oracles and trusted third parties. We are currently looking to build a platform by providing sandbox API and with that API various trusted third parties can support their dApps rather than supporting individual functions such as EMC2 from a platform level. If trusted third parties are needed, I think it would better for the BOS Platform and ecosystem to do a business logic similar to EMC2, or if a third party can authenticate anything, be it weather for example, then extend that API or pay a certain deposit for a business opportunity. To summarize, we are looking to provide an internal assurance scheme and API, rather than providing a particular feature within the platform so that if a trusted third party is needed, it is provided.

Do you still believe that Stellar’s FBA consensus algorithm is the best choice? There introduced number of different approaches, for example, IOTA’s tangle, Raiblock’s lattice model, and hashgraph. I believe you have had hard time to integrate trust contract into FBA. If it’s still true, maybe it’s good time to move on. It’s hard to compare though, cause they are not mature as Stellar. What do you think?

This question is asking if FBA is the best choice for our consensus protocol because newer consensus protocols such as IOTA’s tangle and Raiblock’s lattice model, and hashgraph and other new projects are coming out and using these new technologies and providing more evolved and new features is possible. However as CTO my focus also lies on how to choose a technology and how to implement it. We need time to internalize and conduct tests to provide a steady quality of technology. It took us close to a year to research and test which consensus algorithm to use before launching TokenNet on FBA. Building a TestNet to gather data, structure and run nodes with various topologies, and accumulating experience to understand the limits what we can offer is all part of that process. We will launch BOSnet based on SCP but for whatever technology to be released to the market, we need to take measure to ensure the quality and that takes time. Obvious we need to keep track with current technologies such as tangle and especially those which offer greater scalability but in order to achieve what we set out to achieve, current level of technology is enough and we don’t necessarily have to adopt the latest technologies. However, we will definitely keep track because as mentioned before, there is the bandwidth issue as well as the scalability problem. We aim to expand each component of the entire business bit by bit with and after market interaction, so although it may take time and although the technologies may appear relatively old, the accumulation of data and experience is not in vain.

Closing
So we have quite a few meet ups ahead of us and starting with this video, please come and participate to our meet ups and ask any new or follow up questions. We will try to communicate more, and resolve any queries you may have. Thank you.
